Sometime in the Fall 2007, one of BET most longest running, successful and popular's programs, RAP CITY, decided to shoot a couple of episodes at one of SOA's partnering venues, NOSTYLIGIA, clothing and sneaker boutique.
We had a exhibit running at Nostylgia, when they shot there episodes, so if you look in the background, you'll find artwork by SOArtist Mario Pena, Toofly, M.Tony Perlata, Phoebe Sonder.
Sentences, an autobiography of the life of Percy Carey, in the sometimes glamorous, and often violent, hip-hop industry; from the first time he picked up a microphone at a block party as a youngster, to the day he lost the use of his legs to gang violence, to his incarceration, and eventually, to his self-reinvention and rise back to the top of his game, becoming a Hip-Hop Grand Master and being placed among the pantheon of the culture. is CNN's runner up for best graphic novel of '07. Also, it looks like Sentences is on Time Magazine's top ten graphic novels of the year list.
