VENUE: CHELSEA ARTS MUSEUM
556 W.22th Street
New York, NY
The SOA was invited by the Chelsea Arts Museums Young Associates group to add to one of their seasonal parties.
But why did the Sound of Art get down with the Chelsea Arts Museum, when the SOA makes it their business not to get involved with museum...well its simple...
For those of you less familiar with the YA, its a dynamic group that makes experiencing art & culture accessible through non-intimidating events such as intimate gallery talks, studio visits with artists, as well as private tours of museums, art fairs & auction houses(all reasons why we got down with them). Their biggest events though are their seasonal parties which are open to non-members as well.
So in addition to DJ Sir Shorty from the Rose Bar, spinning on the 1's and 2's, and a 4-hour open bar, & video performances; THE SOA called upon some of its "iller" artists to go live on the unstretched canvases hung on the walls of the museum itself...CRAIG ANTHONY MILLER, DON RIMX & LOGIK ONE.
Best part of the night, was watching the looks on the faces of those in awe over the art being created by the SOA Squad. Well, to be expected by these AWEsome artists.
FROM ART TREK:UPTOWN, SOUND OF ART TAKES A DETOUR TO SOHO
DATE: 2010-06-22
VENUE: The Armand de Brignac Loft Office
SOHO, NYC
Uptown-based art entity, Sound of Art has been on the path of injecting a strong dose of desire, excitement and stimulation into the gallery-deprived neighborhoods of Washington Heights and Inwood. It has and will continue to use its Art Trek: Uptown initiative to make Uptown the new and well-respected art scene of the Big Apple.
But every now and then the Sound of Art gets called up to leave Uptown and satisfy the artistic needs of a bigger audience. This time a detour had to be taken to SoHo, The Toast of Summer, an ultra-exclusive (only 15 people were invited) after work lounge affair catered to CEOs, VP and others who share the tastemaker lifestyle.
Hosted by pop culture maven/socialite, Datwon Thomas and presented by the No.1 Champagne in the world, Armand de Brignac (wow. everyone should experience the this champagne, thanks EM!!). The Sound of Art matched this scenario of good living with the works of Joe Buck, (who made Sound of Art history at La Sala 78 Cafe on Dyckman, when he sold 6 out of 9 pieces). All guests were treated to the sound of this events art, when Peter Hadar, put together an emotional and uplifting performance that moved the crowd as his lone voice carried the scent of love around Armand de Brignacs loft.
A Toast of Summer was definitely worth stepping out of the lane for but the magnetic pull of home-base has back on our Art Trek: Uptown!

From Toofly to M. Tony Peralta, the Sound of Art’s ART TREK: UPTOWN is starting to pick up some momentum. Besides the fact that the name, M.Tony Peralta, is starting to ring bells and that the Sound of Art has a reputation for creating a serious buzz for its art affairs, Thursday’s Art Trek reception was truly a great example of Uptowners wanting a different type of socially sophisticated experience.
Take the element of Peralta’s aesthetically pleasing, Buena Suerte art series, which resonates with many Uptown residents with roots in Latin culture; then mix it with a social scene that people hunger for (new conversation, new people, new spaces, new ideas) and it makes the discoveries that the ART TREK: UPTOWN offers that much more worth while. Oh and don’t forget to throw in the excitement of the NBA Championship Finals.
This reception not only generated interest in owning Mr. Peralta’s artwork from Sound of Art established buyers and those new to this art movement but it also furthered the SOA mystique.
VENUE: Vault Harlem
2498 Frederick Douglass Blvd.
Harlem, USA
Constant elevation and unyielding progress regardless of circumstances is what The Sound of Art (SOA) was highlighting with its latest offering RELENTLESS featuring the work of international artist Bobby Hill. The venue chosen for this function was none other than Harlems own Vault which has remodeled the store to look and feel even cooler and more ample than before. Bobby Hill’s work added a dynamic drumbeat of artistic virtuosity to the walls of the space, imbuing the already hip Vault with an ambiance only fine art can impart. The Sound of Art once again proves that in bad times the best get better.

Meet me at the BK BRUNCH for a cup of coffee. The BK BRUNCH is the ideal way to begin an exploration of accessible art on the last and final day of the Art Under the Bridge festival.
BK BRUNCH will be held at the studio and living quarters of SOA artist Craig Anthony Miller and will highlight his work as well as a smattering of other SOA artists. Fair Trading, coffee importer and roaster, Liga Massiva will provide the high quality Java and there will be a selection of light fare to fuel the art watching.
BK BRUNCH will provide the gastronomical and artistic nourishment to set off a day of art exploration at the nations largest urban forum of experimental art that is the Art Under the Bridge festival. In keeping with the ethos of that great institution, the SOA is using BK Brunch as a public service for those fortunate few that will be selected to attend. BK Brunch food for fuel, food for thought.
